Your first custom hat sample arrives. The color is close. The crown feels a little high. The front logo looks too low, but only when the cap is worn.<\/p>\n

Then someone sends the factory three words: \u201cPlease make better.\u201d<\/p>\n

That message sounds clear inside a brand team. It is not clear to a sample maker. Better could mean lower, softer, darker, smaller, or simply closer to the reference photo. The next sample may fix one detail and create two new questions.<\/p>\n

This guide focuses on custom hat sample feedback<\/strong>, not the full production process. It shows brand owners and sourcing teams how to turn an opinion into a change a factory can follow before bulk custom hats move into production.<\/p>\n

Why Custom Hat Feedback Often Goes Wrong<\/h2>\n

A hat is a three-dimensional product. A front photo cannot show crown depth, rear fit, brim pressure, sweatband feel, or how the logo sits when the cap is worn. At the same time, words such as \u201cpremium,\u201d \u201csporty,\u201d and \u201cmore fitted\u201d do not give the sample room a fixed target.<\/p>\n

Problems usually appear when feedback is spread across emails, chat screenshots, phone calls, and different file versions. One person approves the fabric. Another person sends an older logo. A third person asks for a shape change but does not say which measurement should move.<\/p>\n

The goal is one clear decision record, not more comments.<\/p>\n

Use a Four-Step Feedback Method<\/h2>\n

1. Mark the exact area on a photo<\/h3>\n

Take clear front, side, back, top, and inside photos of the real sample. Add an arrow, circle, or numbered callout exactly where the change is needed. Adobe\u2019s official guide shows how reviewers can add comments to selected text or images in a PDF<\/a>. A marked PDF is usually easier to control than a long message thread.<\/p>\n

Do not crop so tightly that the factory loses the reference point. If you comment on logo height, the photo should also show the brim seam. If you comment on crown shape, show the full cap from the same angle as the comparison sample.<\/p>\n

2. Add a measurement when a measurement can solve it<\/h3>\n

\u201cMove the logo up\u201d is a direction. \u201cMove the logo up 6 mm from the current position and keep its finished width at 75 mm\u201d is an instruction.<\/p>\n
